Central Cali H Friends

Welcome to Central Cali H Friends (CCHF)! Originally designed to support the first Herpes Social Group in Fresno, California, this site has since expanded into a central location for herpes information covering all of Central California.

This is an informational site about various social groups for people with Herpes (HSV-1 and/or HSV-2), in the San Joaquin Valley. We have alliances with similar groups throughout California and the US. The group outreach and social event information provided covers namely the San Joaquin Valley: Fresno, Kern, Kings, Madera, Merced, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, and Tulare counties. We welcome everyone over 18 who is interested in making new friends, sharing fun activities, and meeting others who share our particular situation.

Our purpose is to provide an atmosphere where those of us "in the club" can meet and socialize.  We're here to cultivate lasting "H" friendships and to foster a spirit of camaraderie.  We're here to help you learn how to take care of your body so the disease has a better chance of staying dormant. We are doing our part to dispel the myth that we are alone in this world, because we're not.  Life does go on!

Since herpes does not discriminate and neither do we, we are a very diverse group of people of all ages. We're especially welcoming to folks who are new to this situation and new to "the club". We’ll make sure to introduce you to other friendly people and make you feel at home.

Central Cali H Friends is NOT a dating service and offers no personal ads. Instead, members plan social activities which provide the opportunity for socializing, making new friends, meeting others with herpes, and having fun in a supportive and relaxed atmosphere. It's mostly about making new friends and having fun together. Central Cali H Friends has NO DUES and NO MEMBERSHIP FEES, NO officers, NO social directors and NO budget. Instead, we rely on ordinary members LIKE YOU to volunteer! We always need people to assist with planning, organizing and promoting social events. We encourage all members to plan your own events!

Helping to promote everything H
between The Bay and LA.

If you've just been diagnosed with herpes, or are having a hard time dealing with herpes; believe me, we understand, we've been there.  We’re here to let you know that life does not STOP when you contract herpes; you just need to make a few minor adjustments.

We do not currently know of any support groups in the Central Valley, but we will list them when they are available. In the meantime, we have valuable Herpes and HPV resources, should you need them.

Many of us have experienced the turmoil you may be going through, we understand. These folks can help you through this trying time.

Help is available Monday - Friday, all times Eastern Standard
ASHA's Helpline is (919) 361-8488 and is open 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
The CDC National STD Hotline is (800) 227-8922 and is open 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m.

The only way to know if you have Herpes is to get tested specifically for it!
Herpes is NOT included in routine STD screening!

Donít be afraid to ask the healthcare professionals what they will be testing you for.
You will be shocked and amazed when you see what is NOT on their list.
Just because your STD test results came back "clean"; doesn't mean you don't have Herpes, you might have it.
GET TESTED! (To get a Western blot directly from the UW laboratory, have your provider call 800-713-5198.)
